THIS SWEET BABY IS READY TO PLAY AND WITH:

…SWEET ORIGINAL LACQUER WITH A FRESH $FOUR FIGURE OVERHAUL ! THESE WERE MADE FOR ONLY 2 YRS TO SPECIALLY CELEBRATE THE INVENTION OF THE SAXOPHONE BY ADOLPH
SAX !!! CENTENNIAL MEANS 100 YEARS. THIS ONE FOR SALE HERE IS AN EARLY 1941. SN1412XX. ACCORDING TO SERIAL NUMBER CHARTS ONE OF THE FIRST ONES MADE.
COMES WITH VERY NICE HOLTON CASE CLEAN NO SMELL.  NO SMELL ON SAX AT ALL !!

1 ORIGINAL FINISH IS LOVELY.  MARTIN FINISHES ARE GENERALLY NOT THE GREATEST. I BELIEVE THEY TOOK SPECIAL CARE IN THESE CENTENNIAL SAXES TO HAND ENGRAVE THEM DEEPLY.  THIS ONE FITS THAT DESCRIPTION. IT HAS AGED VERY SWEETLY WITH A HONEY DARK BROWN PATINA.

2 LIKE THE BETTER EXAMPLES ON ” THE MARTIN STORY ” ( GREAT SITE ) THE PAD CUP TOPS SHOW SOME WEAR BUT NOT TOO BAD.

3 I ACQUIRED THIS FROM A RELIABLE SOURCE WHO SAID HE HAD OBTAINED IT FROM A PERSON WHO SAID IT HAD A VERY EXPENSIVE FOUR FIGURE $$$$.00 OVERHAUL. I THINK THIS COULD BE TRUE. OBSERVE THE FANCY PADS WHICH I BELIEVE ARE KANGAROO GOLDISH DOMED RESONATORS. SEE ALL PICS

4 THE ACTION ON THIS IS FAST AND LIGHT. ALL ROLLERS ROLL.

5 THE NECK SERIAL NUMBER MATCHES THE SERIAL NUMBER ON THE SAX ( SEE PICS )

6 NECK NO PULL DOWN NEW CORK ON IT. ALSO NOTICE THE SPECIAL MARTIN SHIELD
BASE WHERE THE TIGHTNING SCREW IS. NICE FANCY ADDITION TO THIS CENTENNIAL MODEL

7 ALL PEARLS ARE IN NICE SHAPE. BELL TO BODY BRACE FINE.

8 STRAP HOOK SHOWS NO NOTCHES SUGGESTING THIS SAX WAS NOT PLAYED VERY MUCH IN THE LAST 81 YEARS. AMAZING !! MOST OF THESE THAT HAVE SURVIED ARE PRETTY BEAT UP AND HAVE BEEN RELAQUERED…AND PLAYED TO HELL ETC

9 I TRIED TO THE BEST OF MY ABLITY TO DESCRIBE THE ITEM. I OWN THE BUSINESS OF THE SAME NAME AS HERE. MY REPUTAION IS PARAMOUNT TO ME TO KEEP AT A+. I AM AN HONEST SELLER SEE MY FEEDBACK AND OTHER ITEMS

10 THIS SAX LOOKS VERY VERY CLEAN NO PAST REPAIRS I SEE OR NO DENTS. JUST A SMALL PING ABOVE THE NECK FASTING SCREW ABOVE THE SPECIAL DECORATIVE MARTIN SHIELD BASE. ( SEE PIC 25 ) I AM NOT A TECH SO SEE ALL PICS. ANY QUESTIONS I WILL TRY TO ANSWER FOR YOU

11 I HAVE A VIDEO OF THIS BEING PLAYED IF YOU WISH I CAN SEND IT TO YOU.

12 AGAIN FROM ” THE MARTIN STORY ”

They share a lot of features with the later “The Martin ____” models. A few Committee 2 features can also be found.
Fascinating is the fact that the alto models have kind of a “The Martin Alto” design and the tenor necks look more like the older Committee 2.

Also the keyguard of a the low-c tonehole is a combination between the Comm2 and the later “The Martin ___”.
I think this model should be seen as a transitional model from the Committee 2 towards the “The Martin ___” range.
